Chiefly Speaking – June 1, 2020

Dear Brothers,

I want to thank everyone who attended the Rededication Ceremony and Lodge Officer Elections. We had an incredible amount of people on the Zoom and we all enjoyed each other’s company.

In the morning, the Chapter Chiefs and the Officers held the Chapter of the Year Competition over Zoom as well. This was a historic moment as it was the final chapter of the year competition with these chapters. I want to thank all the Chapter Chiefs who presented as they did an amazing job representing these chapters for a final time. With that being said, I am proud to announce that the Chapter of the Year for the 2019-2020 Lodge year is the………. Pooca-Tooka Chapter! Congratulations! I would like to also announce honorable mentions, the Paldani and the O-Shot-Co-Chee chapters! Once again, thank you to those chapter chiefs, you all did an amazing job!

Following the Chapter of the Year competition, we held the Rededication Ceremony and Lodge Officer Elections. Once again, I want to that the Ceremonies team, especially the chairman, Carina L., for putting this together. A special thank you to Mr. Freiwald and Mr. Durbin for allowing us to use the office and to Tyler N. who edited the video for us. It was great to witness a ceremony during this time.

Once again I offer my congratulations to the new Chief and his officers! I have known Carson since he was inducted and I know he will excel in this position. He also has a great team of officers that will help him in achieving his goals. Carson, Ben, Nico, Amanda, and Jacob: you have a great responsibility now as officers, but I know you all are more than capable of succeeding in these positions. Congratulations!

Finally, my brothers, my time as your Chief has come to an end. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. I loved every moment of being your Chief, but more importantly, being your chief servant. It has been a privilege to serve you all in this capacity. From the year of O-Shot-Caw, Always Innovating, to this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, what made my years as Chief the most memorable, is you all, the arrowmen of the O-Shot-Caw Lodge. What I looked forward to at every event or meeting, was the opportunity to be with you all and to have fun. I enjoyed meeting so many of you and enjoyed sharing a common bond that is Scouting. I always say this: it is you all who makes this Lodge so great. It is you who give the service to our camps and community. It is you all who provide the leadership in service. It is you all who are so spirited and makes this Lodge known throughout the Section and nation. It is you all who truly live by the Scout Oath and Scout Law and by our Obligation. I am so blessed to be a part of this Lodge. Thank you always for all your unending cheerful service. And thank you so much for a wonderful two years!

“Let us find the greater beauty in the life of cheerful service.

“Yours in brotherhood,
Keanu O.
