The Founder’s Award was created to honor and recognize those Arrowmen who have given outstanding service to the Lodge. The award is reserved for those Arrowmen who memorialize in their everyday life, the spirit of achievement as described by founder E. Urner Goodman. The award is a handsome bronze medallion bearing the likeness of E. Urner Goodman and co-founder Carroll A Edson, with a wooden base and brass plate suitable for engraving. The award is suitable for display at home or the office. Also available is the Founder’s Award ribbon, similar to the universal arrow ribbon, except that it has a gold-colored arrow suspended from a red ribbon.
After two years of service as a Brotherhood member, and with the approval of the national Order of the Arrow Committee, a Scout may be recognized with the Vigil Honor for outstanding service to Scouting, his lodge, and the community. This honor is bestowed by special selection and is limited to one person for every 50 members registered with the lodge each year.
Meritorious Service Award:
This award was created by the O-Shot-Caw Lodge to honor those Arrowman who have performed an exceptional amount of service on a Lodge level. The award goes beyond Cheerful Service to the point that the Arrowman is playing a crucial part in the executive Lodge work. This award is presented to both youth and adult members each year at the Lodge Banquet. The award is a framed certificate which has been professionally printed with both Order of the Arrow and O-Shot-Caw trademarks upon it. On every certificate presented, the following quote is present, “He alone is worthy to wear the Arrow who will continue to faithfully serve his fellow man”.
At the 2009 National Order of the Arrow Conference, the National Order of the Arrow Committee suggested to every lodge across the country to develop a new award, an award that would be given to one youth arrowmen who has gone above and beyond, an arrowmen that has shown great enthusiasm, and an arrowmen who has had a great positive influence for the brothers of our lodge. The O-Shot-Caw leadership has developed the Hal Hollis Outstanding Arrownman Award, named after our founding Lodge Advisor. It was first awarded at Lodge Banquet 2010, and has been given in following years. The award is a handsome figurine of the ordeal ceremony.

Exceptional First Year Arrowman Award
The First Year Arrowman Program is a program in the Lodge designed to keep you involved. The program is basically three-fold. First, shortly after your Ordeal, you will receive a phone call from your Lodge Chief or Vice-Chief. He will invite you to attend our next event and answer any questions you may have.
Then, at each Ordeal and Lodge Banquet, every brother that joined in the past year will have the opportunity to have breakfast with their Lodge Chief and Lodge Advisor. During the First Year Arrowman Breakfast, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, give suggestions and talk with your chief and advisor.
The most appealing aspect of this program is the third part. Every year, the Lodge will award Exceptional First Year Arrowmen Awards to those members that complete the following requirements:
Attending one Ordeal after their induction
Attending three chapter meetings during the year.
Participating in either the Haunted Forest or the One-Day Service Project.
Participating in one of the Lodge’s Camp Promotions displays at the Webelos Jamboree, Scout Show, Lincoln-Marti Camporee or Scoutmaster’s Camporee.
Serving actively in your troop (at the Scoutmaster’s discretion).
You have one year from the date of your induction to fulfill the five requirements. You should have received an Exceptional First Year Arrowman Award Card. Keep track of all the requirements and obtain the proper signatures on that card. After completing the card, it must be turned in to the Lodge First Vice-Chief. The recipients of the award receive a nice certificate and is only given to those brothers that received the award. Any questions should be directed to your chapter chief.
