Chiefly Speaking – March 2021

Dear Brothers,

I hope you all have had a great time at our most recent events. As we continue to enjoy the most exciting portion of the year, there is still lots of fun to be had.

At the end of February, the South Florida Council held the Inaugural Council Car Show at Camp Elmore. Our lodge was asked to help support the event by organizing the parking and operating our Heron Grill. The car show brought in a stunning 128 cars and filled the Camp Elmore activities field with some awesome vehicles. Our lodge made over $1,000 from the Heron Grill and handled the parking well. The car show was such a success that the South Florida Council is planning on making it an annual event, so make sure to come out next year.

Just over a week ago, we held our annual Lodge Banquet weekend at Camp Elmore. Despite the challenges we faced with coronavirus precautions, technical difficulties and “liquid sunshine,” we provided a memorable event, which all our Arrowman enjoyed. After having a s’mores fellowship and Brotherhood induction Friday night, we hosted one of the most unique and exciting Lodge Banquets to date. In the morning on Saturday, we held a session of burning questions & hot topics with our Lodge Officers, Section Chief (Adam Lucier) and Section Vice-Chief (Tyler Nguyen). You all had some great questions! After that, we moved into our highly competitive chapter vs. chapter games. This was the first year we tried out a completely different set of games, and everyone had a blast. We started off with the pent-athlon which included basketball, running, archery, swimming and canoeing all combined into one race. We then held our Adviser & Chief Sink-a-thon, homerun derby and Jeopardy. Congratulations to the Totika Fuswa chapter for winning the table decorating competition and the Tom Tatham Spirit Award!

Later on in the evening, we held our annual Lodge Banquet awards ceremony. This is where we celebrated successful year as a lodge and recognized Arrowmen who have gone above and beyond their call of duty. Congratulations to all the award recipients and our 2021 Vigil Honor Class!

Looking ahead, we are quickly approaching the Section Conference! This year’s conference will take place on April 9-11th at Camp La-No-Che in the Central Florida Council. The Section Conference is an event where the seven lodges from across the state of Florida and Southern Georgia come together for a weekend of competitions, spirit and fellowship.
